Shopping Spree

OK, it happened, income tax return was deposited into our checking account yesterday and we didn’t hesitate to take care of everything we had been thinking about getting…and then some. I’m more than excited about all of our new purchases that I’m gonna tell you about ‘em.

The first thing I have to tell you about is our new bed. It’ll be delivered today and while I haven’t slept on it yet I can’t wait to. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a big bed. When my Grandpa passed away and left his brand new bed behind, I got it…queen size. My Mom and her boyfriend on the other hand still sleeping on a full. When that bed just couldn’t hack it anymore I got rid of it. I think I was like 19 at the time. From there, I’ve pretty much always had a partner (even before Joanne) and my bed was theirs. ::lol:: Well, Joanne and I for the last 4 years have been sleeping on the most awful bed. Every other month we talk about buying a new bed and never do it. It always got pushed to the side lines. Another issue I have with this bed is that she shared it with her ex. And while I acknowledge that I have now been sleeping on this bed longer than the ex did (I’ve also been Joanne’s partner longer than she was) I still hate that she ever layed on it. So, yesterday, after shopping at Target which I’ll tell you about later, we went over to the mattress store and I told the sales guy “I want a cheaper priced King bed.” He pointed out to me 3 beds that they were having a sale on…queen and king for the price of a twin. These 3 beds only had a price tag difference of about $200 as you went up in quality. So, Joanne and I layed on all 3 and to tell you the truth, each one of them was heaven. Ya know, hand me a blanket ’cause I’m going nite nite here kind of thing.

So we did our typical lack of debate, I liked the second and third. She liked the second and third and we thought, if the price difference is only $200 between the 2 most expensive of the 3 he showed us on sale, why settle? We didn’t, we bought the top of the line one and according to him “It’s the best bed I have in my store.” It’s pillow top, memory foam, and latex. According to him, latex is now used to help you keep the shape of your bed longer. It comes with a 10 year warrenty on it, protecting it from all kinds of typical “bed” issues and they fix or replace FREE for the next 10 years. We also bought a waterproof mattress cover (you know parents, that’s a good thing to do). They say nothing is getting through the cover and if any kind of liquid does get through it, they’ll come out and clean it for free. If it goes to the mattress and makes any kind of mark, they’ll clean it for free or replace it. Really, can you beat this deal? So, those delivery guys will be calling today to let us know what time they’ll be here and I can’t tell you how excited I am to get the thing!! Finally, my back won’t hurt when I get out of bed!!

OK, so on top of the mattress, we bought quite a few other things. More than anything, our Target shopping was about Zadey girl. She’s getting bigger and as she does, she needs more toys!! Toys, she got! A kick ‘n play toy (that we’ve already put together and she loves), a space saver highchair, all the functions and then some of a normal size highchair but this one straps to one of your dinning table chairs, and toys for the car. She’s now old enough that she’s not falling asleep just because we got into the car. I felt like she needed a little entertainment back there! She also got a few sun dresses that I couldn’t resist but they just have to hang out in her closet until we have summer hit us. They’re size 6 mo. which at this point is still big on her.

In addition to all of that, we bought a picture printer. It’s an Epson PictureMate. This thing is like heaven! The pictures come out perfect, each time. You can choose to print from the computer or right from your memory card which means when you take trips to Grandma’s house and she likes a picture that’s in your camera, you pop it in, print, and call it a day!! Joanne has been bitching that we don’t have enough pictures around the house. Well, why? because they’re all digital! Now I can print them out, hang them up and not hear her anymore. WOOHOO!! Also, what I love the most is just because you have printed from your memory card doesn’t mean the picture is gone. It won’t delete pictures you’ve printed from the card (I was a little worried) which means you can still transfer them over to the computer (and if you’re like me, back them up right away). So, one of my projects today will be printing like crazy!

To go with the picture printer, we also purchased frames. They were actually part of our Christmas list this year to our family (yeah, we’re cheap and easy to buy for) and we got several but now that we have this thing, we needed more! So, I’ll be filling those up today and hanging them on the walls. It really couldn’t have come at a better time either. One of our cats got scared and broke my candle holders that were sitting on my entertainment center (I’m heartbroken about it too, my sister-in-law bought those for me 2 Christmas’s ago). They were broken and shattered so bad I couldn’t save them and now that the only thing I had on top of the entertainment center is gone it is looking really empty and dumb up there with only the surround sound speakers so now I have pictures in a collage of picture frames to put up. I’m so excited!!

OK, I’ve more than rambled about everything. The truth is, I wanna go print! Have a great day!
