I swear, this is all true!

So, Thursday was Joanne’s day off and I must tell you the day didn’t start looking so hot. We weren’t moving, we weren’t getting things done and most of all our baby sitter had not called. I was feeling a little bummed because I really wanted to go and see the movie.

Somewhere around 1 PM with Zae playing on the floor and Joanne passed out on the couch I looked up the movie times to see what options we had left: 3PM, 7PM and 10PM. I knew that if it went past 3 PM I had a really good chance of Joanne falling asleep during the movie so I woke Jo up then and we got moving and I was all excited!

We knew we were going to go and see the movie and Sunset Station and Joanne knew of this baby sitting service they have there so she looked into the cost of it and we just thought we’d leave Zae there for a couple of hours with the movie. When we got to the casino, I couldn’t do it. I have this huge fear of leaving her with strangers, Deanna finding here and there goes my girl. I know it’s totally dramatics on my part but I can’t leave my baby with strangers. So, we bought tickets and we’re taking Zadey in.

Zae actually did really well with the movie. She was sleep 20 minutes into it and stayed asleep the entire time. The movie, was awesome. If you go to see it (World Trade Center by the way) make sure you take your Kleenex. It’s going to have you crying at several different spots. I must say though, I was incredibly thankful the movie was able to tell a story of survivors and heros. And most of all, they did not show the planes hitting the towers… whew, thank God!

So our plan was when the movie let out that we were going to go over to the casino’s buffet and grab some dinner but we weren’t so hungry when we got out and a buffet was just way too much. We headed to the car and neither of us wanted to go home so we got gas, hunted for an address of this place I had looked up earlier and then we went to the strip. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen me a good Bellagio show and I just wanted to go and watch the fountains dance.

We arrived at the Bellagio, parked, and were just walking in. When you walk into the Bellagio from the main back entrance you have 2 options. Go left, this takes you down through the shops, out the the street and you go to the fountains or you go right and you go to the casino floor, the conservatory and what have you. We went left, down through the shops and out to the street.

We hadn’t taken more than 20 steps when we spot a large crowd and Joanne’s like “Oh I wonder who’s here?” And I’m looking at this nerds video taping and thinking, oh that’s fun to show your family back home… Look! I walked past Tiffany’s. LMAO! Whatever. Just think Joanne spots the celebrity: “Oh my God babe, it’s President Clinton!”

I totally took her word for it and rushed up to the crowd where secret service was putting people into a line. Yeah, totally, it was Clinton so I’m standing there, watching him from like 2 feet away thinking “This totally isn’t happening.” He’s shaking hands and talking to people and finally he gets to me and put out my hand, he grabs it and then this lady comes up and says something and he lets go. Oh screw that! I’m getting my chance to say something to the former president!

He listens to her for a second, grabs my hand again and shakes it. At this point Joanne is standing next to me with the baby. I tell him “It’s quite an honor to meet you Sir” and then I turn on my heel, he places his hand on my back and says to me “It’s nice to meet you, where are you from.” I told him “here.” LOL It’s a simple answer but it’s the truth. He says “that’s great” and goes on to Joanne where I watch him shake Joanne’s hand and play with my baby! He grabbed her hands and smiled at her and rubbed her little head.

Now of all moments, WHERE’S THE DAMN CAMERA???? Well, sitting at home on my desk of course with no batteries. Luckly, a lady was standing behind us and just at the moment of him talking to Zadey, she snaps a picture. I pull out my handy little mommy business card and BEG her to e-mail me a picture which she promises to do as soon as she gets him. God, please let her send me this picture of my baby with the President!

In all of this, I’m thrilled. I totally met President Clintion which by the way is my 2nd celebrity sighting after Penn and Teller at the AIDS walk. I DO have my picture with them though! LOL If this lady has half a heart she’ll totallly send me that picture and I will post it the minute I get it.

And just for the record. If this had been Bush who I protested his arrival in Bakersfield about 2 1/2 years ago, I would have walked in the other direction and wouldn’t have even bothered. That’s one man who I have no desire to shake hands with. My sister by the way was upset with me for saying that. But frankly, the bottom line is I can’t shake hands with a man who wants to treat me like I’m a second-class citizen and take my rights away through a consitutional admendment. Ah, jerk!

OK, that’s my news. End of story! LOL

Oh my hun! That’s SOOOOOOOOO awesome!! I just saw the photo. =0) Presidant Clinton was a wonderful presidant.. I agree with you about Bush (wacker). He came to Rochester a year ago… I had NO desire to go and see him. None what so ever. Sad huh? I have no respect for the man.. he refuses to seperate State/Church… a HUGE pet peeve of mine. Aw well. Good for you guys!!! That’s a photo Zadey will treasure FOREVER!
