Hello
In February when we moved back to Bakersfield, I wrote my Goodbye. You may remember it.
This time, it’s Hello:
To the Luxor light
To the occasional cloud covering over the MGM Grand that appears green.
To the “just because” drives from one end of the strip to the other.
To meaningful use of the word “local.”
To all our friends at Silverado Ranch Target.
To bonding moments with my brother while shooting an AR.
To the Bellagio that holds more magic for me than words can express.
To one of the busiest airports in the world, McCarren International.
To the shit ass drivers who have forgotten how to use their blinkers and brakes.
To Sunset Station Buffet, Capriottis, and Memphis B.B.Q.
To the occasional drop of $5 in The Munsters slot machine.
To 118 degree summers.
To 5 hour drives back to California.
To seeing the more sane Katy.
To realizing where my home really is.
To giving up on moving anywhere in the country but Las Vegas and being OK with it.
To understanding what people mean when they say “I love my city.”
To spending more time being happy and not missing part of me.
To shopping trips where I don’t have to account to anyone how much I spent.
To just being HOME and knowing exactly what that feels like.
Las Vegas, I’m back. And I’m not leaving.
