Blogs Blogging About You
Newsflash, bloggers like to talk about themselves and what they know.
Who knew, right?
In the same spirit did you know that there are bloggers and blogs devoted to promoting their fellow bloggers?
It’s true and while I’ve been meaning to blog about this for quite sometime, I had misplaced my thoughts or at least I’d like to think that I just got busy blogging about other stuff.
Promoting your blog is something that I’m sure you spend a great deal of time doing.
Typically I say that I spend at least half my day working on promotion and networking. The truth of the matter is that I probably spend a whole heck of a lot more time than half. When Joanne is off of work, it’s even more than half.
So, what do you do when someone takes the time to make a blog post spotlighting you?
Thank them and share the love.
Way back in November, I answered just a few personal questions for Behind Every Blog. The concept there is simple, answer a few questions and get in line to be spotlighted.
More recently, I completed the 10 Questions survey with Blogs We Luv. My answers to their questions were posted on their blog.
What is about to come from that spotlight will probably be one of my first huge accomplishments in my blogging career (that’s another post but, you can get the idea just by visiting the post on Blogs We Luv about me).
It’s my opinion that picking up feeds from these types of blogs is not only interesting but can generate more productivity from you.
Why do you want to participate?
There are a multitude of reasons and they all center on promotion. Here are some of my more specific thoughts.
Exposure
This is obvious. Really, are you so huge that you don’t need a link back to you blog and people talking about you? Chances are not likely.
Read About Others
Why not take the time to get to know more bloggers? Coming to the realization that you have something in common with another blogger will help you in networking.
Creativity
Oh that famous writer’s block. When you’re caught up on your feeds and can’t come up with the latest topic for your blog, reading a spotlight about a blog will encourage you to expand your daily reads. Typically going outside your blog box will ignite some kind of creativity in you to have your own new blog post.
Networking
Remember, blogger XYZ likes peaches and so do you. This gives you common ground to spark a conversation and network with the blogger. This expands your reach and visibility on the web.
Branding
I’ve said this many times. Having another blog spotlight you will help you with your own personal branding techniques. This will also increase your visibility and credibility on the web.
While many people claim that there is a science to getting the most for your time spent networking, there’s no formula to networking except for the one that works best for you.
Taking the time to try out new networking options will have a positive impact on your networking skills as well as expand your reach to other bloggers.
Finding blogs that like to spotlight blogs will help you to make the networking process with other bloggers shorter by taking you straight the source. It gives you a topic for conversation that otherwise you may have had to search for.
So, what are you waiting for? Hit up Behind Every Blog and Blogs We Luv and see if you too can be spotlighted.
You have nothing to lose.
