WordPress, Magazine Style
You know, in all the years that I have been designing websites and logos I’m Blogging That has never had a logo. No, not once have I sat down, created, and said “There, now this will represent everything I intend to do at I’m Blogging That.” Strange really but I suppose my theory is that I do that all day long. If I’m not blogging I’m designing something for a client. My passions frequently going hand in hand.
With the recent wave of blogs using “magazine style” themes for WordPress I’ve considered the look a lot. By checking out a lot of really great blogs using the magazine style theme, my mind was made up. This template style would be the best thing ever if I’d reach I’m Blogging That.
In the last week I have spent a lot of time waiting for an answer from custom design clients. And in between, something was happening for I’m Blogging That. I didn’t know what, I wasn’t sure how I was going to pull it off or what it’d look like. But it was time that I took my blog design as serious as I am about my blogging.
With too many design changes to count, it’s time for me to follow my own advice on this aspect and fall in love once and for all with my design and leave it be. (Even though I render myself powerless to the force that drives me to redesign this blog).
A week is usually more time than I spend on any custom design. In, out, they’re happy and I’m done. But this had to be special and now it is.
Tonight, I launch I’m Blogging That’s brand new look complete with bold colors that suit me. A floral background for softness, and best of all… a logo! But that’s not all nope, I cannot stop there.
When I last redesigned I’m Blogging That, I created a new tagline for the site: “Because there’s always something to write about…” You know, there is. But does it tell you about the content of the blog? Not hardly. So, the new design also brings a new tagline that I really feel encompasses all that I’m Blogging That is: “Answering Your Blogging ‘How To’ Questions.” It’s on target, to say the least.
So with that, I present to I’m Blogging That’s brand new design and logo.
Be sure you stay tuned for tomorrow’s post. Katy has a trick up the sleeve and you’re going to love it!
P.S. I believe I’m going to sell my “Retro Rainbow” theme that I last used. If you’re interested in it, please drop me a line.

Oh my! I absolutely love it! I, too, have been batting around the magazine style theme for my other blog I am looking to start specifically for my creative writing. I am telling you, this set up is making it a more pressing idea to make a reality on my end. You did a splendid job on it, and I love the color scheme!

I love the new look. Only problem I have is that I have to Ctrl-+ to get it so I can read the comments, because the font is tiny on it ;) Blame the widescreen laptop, XD.

Lori » Joanne was looking through my blogroll of “custom design clients” when we saw your site was down. Was probably while you were working on it. And again, thank you for the compliment. :D
Drew » Magazine style and your photos would go perfectly together. Especially with all the galleries that can integrate really well. You may have a problem taking sponsored posts though with this kind of template.
Lil Miss » Thank you… and thank you! :D
Sarah » Thank you! And yeah, I thought the font size for the comments needed to be increased as well. Maybe that’ll be something I’ll tweak with later. LOL

OHG, this is just typical. I went to show your site to a friend for inspiration. She is a photographer, but likes the sort of site you ‘did’ have. So I took a look and you changed again! :0)
I have to say I am really into these styles of sites and it really really works for you. Love the tumbnail icons down the side, the colours and the new overall style.
Really made an impressive impact when I arrived, took me by surprise and I had to do a double take to make sure I had got the right URL. Even then, I doubted myself.
Great stuff, congrats. Id there any pics I can use of your previous site, do you have any archived anywhere? It would of been an ideal site to show her for inspiration, the colours your used, the logos and illustrations etc.

You need to make your logo, your favicon too!

Graham » LOL With a logo design, here’s hoping that I won’t be interested in making changes again. I’ll email you a screenshot though of my old site that you can pass along. Ah, and I do appreciate the compliments to this design. :o)
Lori » At the size of the favicon, the logo looks really… really… really bad! LOL I stuck with the star for now, I’ll pick out something from this design soon enough for it though. :D

I like how simple it is.. Some logos go overboard and it’s annoying. good job!

Katy,
Actually I don’t like magazine style is mainly because most of them don’t list their post by date order. It will really take sometimes to get used to it.
Anyway, will wait for your post to see what pros and cons. Thanks.

Asia’h » I used to think the same thing. Magazine style themes felt hard to navigate and get from post to post. I’ve done a few things to help that and more will be done soon. :D
