All In One SEO Pack No Longer Supported
Seems that the announcement, or lack thereof came somewhere around June 6th that the much loved All In One SEO Pack Plugin for WordPress users will no longer be supported or maintained by the plug-in’s author, Uberdose.
All of a sudden the blogosphere is buzzing about the plug-in and the simple announcement on the plug-in’s page at WordPress.
I first learned of the change by the announcement at Hack WordPress who suggests using SEO Sniper as an alternative. However, SEO Sniper is a premium WordPress plug-in at the very high cost of $97.00 USD.
A comment at Hack WordPress by John Lamansky states that he’s contacted Uberdose to ask about taking over further development of the plug-in yet no official word on that yet.
The good news at this point is that the All In One SEO Pack plug-in is current and working with WordPress version 2.5.1. But with talks of WordPress 2.6 coming out this summer, our window of opportunity to use this plug-in is quickly fading.
Fear not! With a community of developers that actively support WordPress and genuine love of this plug-in, it’s a good possibility that we’ll soon have a new developer handling further updates or a developer that puts something comparable out.
In the meantime, sit tight. Your current version should be working for you without a hitch. We’ll just have to play the “wait and see” game now.

There are too many people who blog semi-casual and they can’t afford the cost of SEO Sniper. As you say though there are tons of talented developers out there and I bet several seo packs will come out. Hopefully one or two rise to the top and do a good job.

I hadn’t heard about this. Thanks for posting!
I know I can’t afford SEO sniper. Hopefully someone comes out with something before wordpress upgrades. I love this plug in. It’s been very helpful.

Tracy: I agree, SEO Sniper is expensive and there are plug-ins that can offer similar features as All In One SEO Pack but typically the need to be used in combination with other plug-ins to get the full effect.
Holly: You’re quite welcome! Should something better not come along, I’m working on a list of alternatives. Check back!

I used to use All In One SEO Pack quite long time ago

To be honest with you, I have the All In One SEO Pack, but I haven’t the first clue about using it.
I think I’m fairly lost when it comes to SEO in general and this just ads further to the pile. I do know that in the near future I need to get a handle on SEO and this is probably a great tool to do so with.
Does anyone know of a good comprehensive tutorial or guide that is geared toward this plugin?

Se7en: Thanks for your input, I’ll have to look into those as an alternative with the next WordPress upgrade.
How to DIY: This plug-in makes SEO management super easy. For your tutorial, it’s one of the most popular posts here: how to use All In One SEO Pack

It’s only recently (after I read your post about that plug-in) that I utilized it. Too bad it won’t be supported by future WP updates.

This is what can happen sometimes when you get something for free. The person developing it may no longer have the time or inclination to keep on developing it. Maybe someone will take it over, but if not, we may all have to start paying for something. Of course, I’m still using WordPress 2.3.3 and since everything still works, may not upgrade to 2.6.

DIY - Katy’;s tutorial is fantastic, utilize it while you can…this is why I’m so bummed, I was all excited about recently learning how to do it correctly.
Such is life I suppose.
Jamie - me too! No plan to upgrade anytime soon.
Katy - do you have any personal knowledge of SEO Sniper…is it worth the money?

Ceblogger: I hope you’ve seen the latest post that the plug-in has a new developer on board.
Jamie: You may want to consider upgrading. It’s not just about the features but the security fixes. Most web hackers access sites through the security holes in out dated php scripts. So the longer you wait to upgrade the easier you’re making it for a hacker.
Dennis: Upgrade statement applies to you as well. As far as SEO Sniper, I have no personal knowledge on it and won’t now that All In One SEO Pack has a new developer.

I’m all over that upgrade ;)
