Personal Note and WordPress Plugins
First, my personal note.
I’ve done a really great job of hiding online that my family is going through a very tough time. My Aunt, who has survived cancer many times in her life lost her battle with her final bout of cancer last Friday, the 13th. We knew it was coming, she had been in hospice for about a week but it didn’t make it any easier to deal with. It’d been a year since I was able to see her but even though she couldn’t speak, got to say my goodbyes on the phone. My Dad, the oldest of his siblings, is having a difficult time.
This weekend, because of my Aunt’s wishes we’ll finally be having her funeral on Saturday. For all of you that means I won’t have any new posts for a few more days and I apologize for my lack of posting but hope that the above situation gives me an excuse. :o) I’ll be out of town as of Friday morning to Sunday evening. So, something new will come at you on Monday.

This is my Aunt Diane (the one I lost), my Dad, and my Aunt Dale.
In the meantime, I’d like to share with you two new WordPress plugins that I’ve installed and am really enjoying!
The first is My Top Commentators put out by Daily Blog Tips and written by Max Blog Press. You know this will be quality when these two sites team up to produce something and it’s nothing short of great.
My Top Commentators allows you to view who you top commentators are for the last 7 days, last month, this year, and last year (as well as other day settings). Head on over to Daily Blog Tips and check it out, I’m sure you’ll be happy with this plugin!
The second plugin came to me by way of a great post by Chris Garrett on internal linking structure. It was a great post and a nice follow up to my deep linking post a couple of weeks ago.
At any rate, the plugin Chris mentioned is called Cross Linker. A fabulous resource for those of us who often link internally or those involved in affiliate marketing.
While I have only had this plugin installed for a day, the ease of use and ability to setup a multitude of phrases for easy future linking is great. I cannot wait to see it in action!
Enjoy the plugins, I’ll see you all back here on Monday with something really fabulous that’s hanging out in my post arsenal waiting to be formatted and published. ;o)

Katy:
I am sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts go out to you and yours during your time of grief. We are going through a cancer battle with my FIL right now, and it is looking as if his battle is winding down as well. No matter how much you know, and how prepared you think you are, the loss still takes the wind out of your sails.
A simple quote, but I am sure you and yours will relate:
“The body may die, but the memories are eternal.”
Peace and well wishes.

Katy,
I’ve read your blog for a few days, but I wanted to extend my condolences to you and your family. And no one will blame you for not posting for a few days. No need to apologize for that!

Katy, I’m so sorry for your loss. Knowing that it’s coming doesn’t mean being prepared - when it’s someone you care about I don’t think it’s posible to be prepared. I hope you and your family find support and comfort in each others’ presence this weekend.
Mahalo for the plugins. I don’t generally comment, but I subscribe and have gotten some wonderful advice from you. Keep ‘em coming!

Katy,
Sorry to hear of your family’s loss. I must say I can see a striking resemblance between yourself and your aunt.
Thank you for the plugin links :)

Sorry I with this post I can’t address everyone to save myself some time and tears…
Thank you to all of you for your well wishes, sweet words, and condolences. At last the weekend is over and I can now move on to learning to live life without her.
For those who mentioned we resemble each other, you’re right we do. Growing up I always heard that the only difference between our baby pictures were that hers were in back and white while mine were in color. More pictures this weekend confirmed that. At least I know I might be beautiful as she was as I age (she wasn’t 60 yet).
With regards to the plugins, hope you all find them as useful as I have! :D

This is a late response, as I was out of town and trying to think of what to say.
Remember that you’ve always got friends who are there for you if you need them. Take advantage of that. And always remember that the internet never takes precedence to the real world, especially when it comes to a pain such as the loss of a loved one. Take care of you and yours before you worry about the online world.
*hugs*
